On October 6, the Greater Philadelphia Shanghai Association (SAGP) celebrated its five-year anniversary at the prestigious Talamore Country Club in Montgomery County. The event, hosted by the exclusive sponsor, Summit Medical Group, brought together nearly 300 members of the Philadelphia Chinese community, fostering greater communication and friendship among attendees while promoting the rich cultural heritage of Shanghai and Chinese culture.

As the event kicked off at 3 PM, guests were treated to an impressive exhibition of over 20 floral arrangements by the BuxMont Study Group, affiliated with the Ikebana International Philadelphia Chapter, which left everyone in awe. Additionally, Mr. Cao Shutian, a member of both the Chinese Artists Association and the Shanghai Artists Association, showcased a series of countryside landscapes that transported viewers to their dreamlike hometowns. The Time Literary Salon also prepared more than 150 outstanding photographs, showcasing a vibrant tapestry of artistic expression.

The evening festivities commenced at 5:30 PM with an engaging dinner hosted by Yang Qing and Wang Rui. Their playful yet heartfelt dialogue resonated with the audience, especially when they used the local Shanghainese dialect, stirring nostalgic feelings among those away from home.

Among the highlights was a special video message from Mr. Zhao Xicheng, a distinguished 96-year-old shipping magnate and father of former U.S. Transportation Secretary and Labor Secretary Elaine Chao, extending his congratulations to the association. The evening featured a lineup of captivating performances, including Charina’s singing of “Hometown’s Gaze,” a dance titled “Shanghai Morning” led by Zeng Yan, Xu Chunhe’s heartfelt rendition of “Unforgettable,” Dorothy’s and Li Yulin’s street dance “Jazz Remix,” Lei Hairui’s violin solo of “Butterfly Lovers,” and Xu Yiming’s powerful vocal performance of “The Best.”

Awards recognizing five years of significant contributions were also presented during the dinner. President Fang Yulin honored Summit Medical Group, Paramount Mortgage, the “Talk to Jerry” YouTube financial channel, and Urban Insurance with honorary sponsorship awards. Vice Presidents Xu Chunhe and Shen Huishi acknowledged generous donors and supporters including Fang Zou, Zhang Gang, Fu Min & Peng Ying, Lu Hua & Sun Tianbao, and Jiang Qing. Secretary General Yang Yuanyuan, alongside Summit Medical Group President Li Xiaobin, awarded the Health and Beauty Prize to the 98-year-old Zhu Huili.

Interactive moments continued with Zhang Yufang from Paramount Mortgage hosting a spirited Bingo game. Dr. Li Xiaobin drew the grand prize, a limited-edition “Golden Dragon Gathering Treasure” jewelry piece from Shanghai Lao Feng Xiang’s New York flagship store, which was presented to winner Wang Minan by Dong Hui, President and CEO of Shanghai International Group (Americas) and Chairman of Lao Feng Xiang USA. The evening concluded with a generous donation of $10,000 from Parke Bank to SAGP.

As the night deepened, the dance floor buzzed with energy, and guests were reluctant to leave. Paramount Mortgage also thoughtfully provided everyone with insulated cups, while SAGP distributed Shanghai brand “Honey Flower Sandalwood Soap” as parting gifts. Many attendees made plans to reunite next year.
