Two disciplinary inspection cadres in Guangdong were expelled from the party and public offices

On October 9, the Guangdong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision announced significant disciplinary actions involving two high-ranking officials. Li Donghua, the former Deputy Secretary of the Dongguan City Disciplinary Inspection Commission and former Deputy Director of the Supervisory Commission, along with Sun Hua, the former Deputy Director of the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Office of the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, have been expelled from the Communist Party and their official positions due to serious violations of discipline and law.

According to the official announcement, following approval from the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, an investigation into Li Donghua was initiated. The findings revealed that he had lost his ideals and beliefs, strayed from his original mission, and disregarded the spirit of the central government’s eight-point regulations. He violated rules by improperly accepting gifts and money, engaged in personal profit-making activities, breached work discipline by leaking confidential inspection information, and abused his power for personal gain, receiving substantial illegal financial benefits.

Li Donghua’s actions constituted severe breaches of the Party’s clean governance and work discipline and are considered serious violations of duty and suspected bribery. His misconduct, which persisted after the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party, has had a significant negative impact, warranting strict action. Based on the relevant regulations, the Guangdong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Provincial Party Committee have decided to expel him from the Party, remove him from public office, revoke his qualifications as a representative of the 15th Party Congress in Dongguan, seize his illicit earnings, and refer his suspected criminal activity to judicial authorities for prosecution.

Additionally, the Guangdong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision has also launched an investigation into Sun Hua. The inquiry found that he, too, had lost his ideological commitment, acted disloyally to the Party, interfered with organizational investigations, and violated central rules by improperly accepting and giving gifts to public servants. He also exploited his position to benefit others in personnel evaluations and was involved in illicit transactions, abusing his authority in enterprise qualification approvals and case handling, receiving large sums of illegal financial gain.

Sun Hua’s actions represent serious violations of the Party’s political, organizational, and disciplinary codes. Similar to Li, his conduct has continued unabated since the 18th National Congress, and the impacts are deemed severe. Accordingly, disciplinary measures have also been taken against him, including expulsion from the Party and termination of public office, seizure of illegal assets, and transfer of his case to prosecutorial authorities for legal review and potential prosecution.
