On the evening of October 10, the village of Dali in Liuxi Town, Qinxiu District, Nanning, Guangxi, kicked off the 2024 Dali Village Rural Basketball Invitational Tournament. The event, themed “Cultural Heritage, Beautiful Countryside,” aims to promote ethnic culture and showcase the unique charm of rural communities through the dynamic sport of basketball.
During the opening ceremony, young athletes from participating teams proudly carried national flags as they made their way across the stage, energized and full of spirit. The crowd cheered them on with enthusiastic applause. Following this, a solemn flag-raising ceremony was conducted, led by Liu Ge, the head of the Guangxi Bayi Veterans Art Troupe. Everyone stood to sing the national anthem, honoring the memory of past heroes and reflecting on history.
The evening’s festivities commenced with a stunning performance by the Guangxi Bayi Veterans Art Troupe, featuring a female solo of “Dear Motherland,” a male solo titled “A Good Man Should Be a Soldier,” and a medley of military songs like “I Am a Soldier,” which earned resounding applause from the audience. The cultural performance reached its peak with a collective rendition of “Singing for the Motherland.” Fireworks lit up the sky, marking the end of the opening ceremony and the official start of the tournament, which kicked off with an exciting match between Pu Miao Town and Liangqing Town, thrilling the spectators.
Dali Village primarily cultivates sugarcane, producing over 38,000 tons annually, making it the highest-producing town in the area. Organic rice from the village is also popular both within Guangxi and beyond. The opening ceremony featured a rural food street, showcasing numerous stalls offering various local delicacies, including fresh vegetables, fruits, and specialty products, tantalizing the taste buds of attendees and highlighting the charm of rural life.
Organized by the Dali Village Committee, with support from the Guangxi Economic Development Promotion Association and the Guangxi Bayi Veterans Art Troupe, the event received guidance from the local government and the Liuxi Town Basketball Association. The tournament will consist of ten matches, drawing numerous basketball enthusiasts for both participation and spectating. On opening day, over 5,000 people attended, reveling in the joy and excitement brought by this sports extravaganza, which also breathes new life into cultural exchanges and economic development in Dali Village.
