During a regular press conference on October 15, spokesperson Mao Ning of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs addressed reporters in Beijing.
When asked about South Korea’s claim that North Korea had destroyed parts of the inter-Korean connectivity routes, Mao responded, “We are aware of the situation. As a neighboring country to the Korean Peninsula, China is concerned about the developments in the peninsula and the state of relations between North and South Korea. The current tensions on the peninsula do not serve the common interests of all parties involved. It is crucial to prevent further escalation of conflicts. China’s position remains unchanged; we are committed to maintaining peace and stability on the peninsula and to promoting a political resolution to the issues there. We hope all parties will make efforts toward this goal.”
