On October 15, the Liaoning-Hong Kong Medical and Health Industry Exchange Conference was held in Shenyang, co-hosted by the Liaoning Provincial Government’s Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, the Liaoning Provincial Department of Commerce, the Liaoning Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, and the Liaoning Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce. The event was attended by Suo Qing, a member of the Standing Committee of the Liaoning Provincial Party Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department, who delivered a keynote speech.

Themed “Working Together for a Brighter Future,” the conference focused on fields such as healthcare, wellness, and the broader health industry. It invited business representatives from Hong Kong to visit Liaoning for discussions and inspections, showcasing the province’s substantial progress in revitalization and its favorable investment climate. The initiative aims to attract Hong Kong businesses to invest in the region and facilitate the establishment of numerous Hong Kong-funded projects in Liaoning, thereby enhancing economic and trade cooperation.

Chen Jiayian, Chief Representative of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council for North and Northeast China, expressed hopes that the conference would bolster development in areas like biomedicine, traditional Chinese medicine, and medical equipment between Hong Kong and Liaoning. “Hong Kong is a global hub for talent, with five top-ranked universities and numerous professionals and research institutions in the medical field,” he stated. “We can join forces with Liaoning to deepen collaboration in the medical industry.”

During the conference, representatives from the Liaoning Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology presented policies related to the medical health industry, while Shenyang and the Shenyang-Fushun Reform and Innovation Demonstration Zone shared their healthcare industry policies and relevant investment strategies. Additionally, companies like Lee Kum Kee Group Co., Ltd. and Lingfeng Capital Co., Ltd. introduced their business developments. The event concluded with a celebration marking the 10th anniversary of the Liaoning Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce.

Around 300 participants attended, including officials from the Hong Kong SAR Government’s Beijing Office, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, various provincial Hong Kong chambers of commerce, as well as representatives from Hong Kong businesses and relevant departments and healthcare systems from Shenyang, and the Shenyang-Fushun Reform and Innovation Demonstration Zone. Following the conference, attendees engaged in further site visits and project discussions in Shenyang and Benxi.
