Las Vegas to Southern California high-speed rail, federal funding increased by $3 billion

In an exciting turn of events for travel between Las Vegas and California, the proposed high-speed rail project has officially landed $3 billion in federal funding, according to a recent report from FOX 11 News. This significant financial boost will primarily support the high-speed rail initiative being developed by Brightline West, which aims to create a direct link between the iconic gambling city of Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

The high-speed train is designed to feature seven cars, although the final configuration is still under consideration. It is projected to have the capacity for over 450 passengers and will make the trip from Las Vegas to Los Angeles in just two hours—cutting travel time in half compared to driving. Passengers can expect a range of amenities onboard, including free Wi-Fi, ADA-compliant access from the station to the train, food and beverage services, luggage check-in, and even hotel check-in options.

Moreover, the Rancho Cucamonga station will connect with the Metrolink light rail network, providing access to a variety of counties including Los Angeles, Riverside, Orange, San Diego, and Ventura. The completion of this project is expected by the summer of 2028, a perfect fit for the upcoming Los Angeles Summer Olympics.
