As the autumn job search season kicks into high gear, universities across Beijing are bustling with soon-to-be graduates eager to land their first positions. On October 16, 2025, a major job fair was held at Beijing University of Technology, drawing over 3,000 graduates and nearly 200 companies eager to connect. From the scene, it was clear that industries linked to new materials, advanced manufacturing, and biotechnology are particularly appealing to job seekers. Companies are increasingly on the lookout for versatile talents who excel in multiple areas.
The job fair was lively, with long lines forming at many recruitment booths as graduates engaged in one-on-one conversations with potential employers.
One standout company at the event was Jiangsu Deep Blue Aerospace Co., Ltd., which specializes in the research, development, and launch of rockets. They were looking to fill various roles, including engine system designers and electrical testing engineers. Mr. Li, the company’s recruitment officer, shared that commercial aerospace, as a hallmark of emerging productive forces, offers immense future prospects, drawing many exceptional candidates to inquire. In just one hour, they received approximately 100 resumes.
“Rockets are complex systems that encompass multiple disciplines, including mechanics and propulsion, which means we need interdisciplinary talents who can demonstrate strong learning capabilities. Additionally, the lengthy rocket development cycle requires continuous innovation,” Mr. Li noted, emphasizing a preference for candidates who display both strong learning and innovative skills.
Zhao Xiangyi, a recruitment officer from Beijing Jingliang Grain and Oil Trading Group, echoed these sentiments. “We highly value learning ability,” she explained. “New graduates often don’t fully meet job requirements right off the bat, so it’s crucial for them to possess strong learning capabilities and flexible thinking.” She encouraged students not to self-limit during interviews and to showcase their strengths boldly.
With the deep integration of artificial intelligence across industries, “AI+” has become a key focus for university graduates seeking jobs or starting their own enterprises. At the job fair, Xiong Li from Shukun Technology, a unicorn in the AI healthcare sector, highlighted the urgent need for interdisciplinary talents who combine medical and IT knowledge. “For top-notch graduates, we are prepared to offer attractive compensation packages,” Xiong stated.
Yang Sasa, a master’s student from China University of Petroleum (Beijing) studying petroleum and natural gas engineering, expressed her confidence in the job search process. “I’m well-prepared with a solid academic foundation, top grades, and extensive internship experience. I hope to learn from experts in the field and enhance my overall competitiveness at work,” she shared.
Yang Shuo, a student from Communication University of China majoring in broadcasting and television directing, acknowledged the evolving landscape. “We’ve entered the era of multimedia. The field of communication needs specialists, but increasingly, we require well-rounded talents. I plan to continually enrich my professional knowledge and develop my skills, aiming to be a versatile resource in media development,” he said.
As these graduates prepare to embark on their careers, it’s clear that the demand for adaptable, capable professionals will shape the job market in the coming years.
