On October 1, representatives from the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region announced a significant event that took place in Wuzhou City from September 26 to 30. Titled “Sharing the Chinese Dream: Connecting with the Heart of Guangxi,” the event brought together 38 leaders from 20 overseas Chinese organizations across 12 countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, Brunei, Italy, and Laos. Participants had the opportunity to explore Guangxi’s impressive economic and social achievements, as well as its rich cultural heritage, particularly that of Wuzhou. This gathering aimed to foster multi-faceted and multi-level exchanges and cooperation.
During the event, He Shiqia, a member of the Standing Committee of the Wuzhou Municipal Party Committee and Minister of United Front Work, extended a warm welcome to overseas compatriots, encouraging them to invest in and participate in Wuzhou’s development. He expressed a heartfelt aspiration for these leaders to work collaboratively on enhancing economic and cultural exchanges between Wuzhou and their respective countries, with the goal of mutual benefits.
A representative from the Guangxi Overseas Chinese Affairs Office highlighted at the opening ceremony the importance of overseas Guangxi organizations strengthening their cooperation to promote harmonious development. The representative urged these organizations to capitalize on their strengths and actively contribute to building a beautiful new Guangxi, while also preserving and advancing Chinese culture and facilitating cultural exchanges between China and the world.
Throughout their visit, overseas leaders engaged in a project recommendation meeting focused on Wuzhou’s socioeconomic development and explored key enterprises in sectors such as Liubao tea, artificial gemstones, and modern agriculture. Intentions for collaboration emerged in these areas, and several organizations spontaneously signed friendly partnership agreements with the Wuzhou Chamber of Commerce for Overseas Chinese, laying the groundwork for various cooperative initiatives.
The overseas leaders expressed a strong commitment to serve as a bridge, facilitating economic and cultural exchanges between Guangxi and their home countries, with an aim to create new models of comprehensive, multi-level, and diverse cooperation.
In recent years, the Guangxi Overseas Chinese Affairs Office has actively organized a series of activities under the theme “Sharing the Chinese Dream: Connecting with the Heart of Guangxi.” These activities include tours for overseas Chinese leaders and outstanding youth, designed to deepen understanding of Guangxi while promoting the development of overseas organizations, revitalizing their initiatives, and fostering more harmonious overseas Chinese communities.
