On October 9, the National Energy Administration of China released data showing that electric vehicle usage on highways during the recent National Day holiday reached an all-time high.
According to an analysis of 24,400 highway charging stations monitored by the national charging facility service platform, there were a total of 3.1 million charging sessions from midnight on October 1 to midnight on October 7. The charging volume amounted to 72.15 million kilowatt-hours, averaging about 10.31 million kilowatt-hours per day. This figure is 2.4 times higher than the average on regular days this year and shows a 34% increase compared to the May Day holiday, with an impressive 80% rise over the National Day holiday last year.
To ensure robust charging services during this major holiday, the National Energy Administration coordinated efforts to enhance monitoring through information technology platforms. They guided local regions in temporarily increasing charging equipment, deploying more personnel for assistance, and performing advance maintenance checks on devices. These efforts successfully addressed the charging needs of a significant number of new energy vehicles during this year’s National Day holiday.
Looking ahead, the National Energy Administration plans to further strengthen the construction of electric vehicle charging infrastructure to continuously meet the charging needs of new energy vehicles during major holidays.
