Cross-Strait -Forestry Expo- will be held in Sanming, Fujian, highlighting elements of confrontation with Taiwan

During a press conference held in Fuzhou on October 24, it was announced that the 19th Cross-Strait (Sanming) Forestry Expo and the 3rd Cross-Strait (Sanming) Rural Integration Development Forum will take place from November 6 to 9 in Sanming.

Since its inception in 2005, the Cross-Strait Forestry Expo and Investment Trade Fair has successfully run for eighteen editions, attracting nearly 50,000 participants, including over 6,000 from Taiwan. The event has led to the signing of 2,387 projects and a trade volume of 13.49 billion RMB, showcasing its positive impact.

Hu Shuai, a member of the Sanming Municipal Committee and Deputy Mayor, highlighted that this year’s event merges the 19th Forestry Expo with the 3rd Rural Integration Development Forum. With the theme “Transforming the Two Mountains to Promote Cross-Strait Integration,” the event underscores Sanming’s commitment to exploring paths for realizing the value of ecological products and establishing a demonstration zone for integrated development between Fujian and the Taiwan Strait.

“We’re seeing new breakthroughs in cross-strait integration,” Hu stated, noting that the event will host over 500 guests from Taiwan, marking a record high. The 3rd Rural Integration Development Forum will focus on “Innovating Hakka Cultural Exchange to Foster Rural Integration,” inviting experts and scholars from both sides to engage in in-depth discussions on preserving and promoting Hakka culture and enhancing rural integration.

The exhibition will cover more than 15,000 square meters divided into four main areas. The Taiwan pavilion will feature local agricultural and forestry industry associations and businesses, showcasing a wide array of Taiwanese products, including bamboo and wood cultural creations, tourism, health products, and agricultural machinery.

According to Zhong Zhigang, Deputy Director of the Fujian Provincial Taiwan Affairs Office, this year’s expo design specifically emphasizes elements relevant to Taiwan. Key activities will include the opening ceremony, the rural integration development forum, and the Cross-Strait (Yong’an) Bamboo Expo, further showcasing the achievements of the cross-strait rural integration development pilot zone and sharing compelling stories of employment and entrepreneurship among Taiwanese individuals.

Furthermore, the product showcase will reflect Taiwanese flavors. Zhong mentioned that there will be dedicated areas for Taiwanese goods, including the San Yi Root Sculpture Pavilion and a Ming Tai snack exhibition. Collaborating with Taiwanese business and industrial associations, 60 exhibitors from Taiwan will present over 300 unique products, ranging from agricultural specialties and biomedical goods to food and daily necessities.
