In a recent development reported by Ukraine’s military, the Ukrainian armed forces successfully struck deep into Russian territory, targeting a military transport aircraft at an airfield. This episode is part of Ukraine’s ongoing operations against Russian forces.
According to AFP, Ukraine’s military intelligence agency revealed that over the weekend, Ukrainian forces destroyed a Tu-134 transport aircraft at the Orenburg military airport, located approximately 1000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine took to social media to highlight that these Soviet-era planes are primarily used for transporting senior officials from the Russian Ministry of Defense.
As winter approaches, Ukrainian officials have raised alarms about intensified Russian assaults on civilian infrastructure. On the southern front, recent reports indicate that Russian artillery and drone strikes resulted in at least three deaths and eight injuries.
Authorities reported that Russian drones struck vehicles in Kherson region, killing two women. Meanwhile, Russian shelling in the port city of Odesa claimed one life and injured eight others.
In a message on the messaging platform Telegram, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba noted the damage caused by the Russian attack in Odesa, which also severely damaged two civilian vessels, including a cargo ship flying the flag of Palau that has come under attack for the second time in two weeks.
Kuleba added that the assaults have also compromised port infrastructure, including a grain storage facility.
In a separate statement, the Russian Defense Ministry announced today that its forces have taken control of the village of Levadne in southeastern Ukraine. The control of this village has seen frequent changes between Russian and Ukrainian forces since the outbreak of the war.
Levadne, a small settlement in the Zaporizhzhia region of Ukraine, is located southwest of Donetsk, where recent Russian offensives have been concentrated.
