On the evening of October 19, the “How China Holds Together: The Five Stars Rise from the East” online thematic promotion event officially launched in the ancient city of Jiaohe, located in Turpan, Xinjiang.
During the opening ceremony, dancers performed captivating routines, showcasing the vibrant culture of the region. This initiative aims to utilize an artistic narrative combined with interactive expression and visual communication to deeply explore and effectively leverage the historical interactions among various ethnic groups in Xinjiang. It strives to clarify that Xinjiang has been an inseparable part of China since ancient times and serves as a multi-ethnic habitation area. The diverse ethnic groups in Xinjiang are vital members of the larger Chinese family, sharing a common heritage and destiny.
The event employs an innovative format that intertwines thoughtfulness, artistry, technology, and communication, utilizing a blend of online and offline methods. By aligning with the distinctive cultural characteristics of Xinjiang, the initiative aims to strengthen the awareness of a shared Chinese national identity.
Throughout the ceremony, attendees engaged in narrative storytelling that centered around three themes: “Echoes of a Millennium,” “A Common Home,” and “An Invitation from Tianshan.” These discussions reflected on the historical legacy and cultural richness of Xinjiang, culminating in the launch of seven online thematic promotion projects.
This event is jointly organized by various prominent entities, including the Central Cyberspace Administration of China, the National Cultural Heritage Administration, and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region authorities, among others.
