Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, conducted a research tour in Zhejiang from October 15 to 17. During his visit, he emphasized the importance of adhering to Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. He called for the implementation of the spirit from the 20th National Congress and Xi Jinping’s important speech at the 75th anniversary celebration of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, stressing the need to strengthen united front work and to develop a robust patriotic united front in this new era. This initiative aims to rally support and wisdom from the public to advance China’s modernization.
In Ningbo, Wang visited the Ningbo Bang Museum and the Tianyi Pavilion Museum, where he learned about the historical development, traditions, business achievements, and patriotic sentiments of the Ningbo Bang community. He highlighted the need to leverage unique united front resources and the role of historical and cultural heritage in fostering cohesion and patriotism. During a visit to the Zhoushan Port area and relevant Taiwanese enterprises, he pointed out that the government has introduced numerous new strategies for deepening reforms and expanding openness. He expressed the importance of effectively implementing these measures and enhancing economic and cultural exchanges between the mainland and Taiwan to encourage greater Taiwanese involvement in shared development.
In Wenzhou, Wang explored the Sanbanqiao community in the Nanjiao Street area and a Muslim prayer site. He reiterated the need to cultivate a strong sense of shared identity among the Chinese nation, promoting ethnic unity at the community level. He advocated for robust community building, effective services, and diverse activities to create a warm atmosphere of cohesion among various ethnic groups. Additionally, he stressed adherence to the party’s fundamental policies on religious work, emphasizing legal management of religious affairs and places of worship.
At the Wenzhou Comprehensive Service Center for Enterprises, the World Wenzhou Residents Home, and the Sanyang Wetlands, Wang was briefed on efforts to optimize the business environment and support entrepreneurship among young Taiwanese individuals and businesses. He underscored the importance of creating platforms for united front work to unify and serve compatriots from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and overseas, working together to promote the grand vision of modernizing China.
Wang also visited the CPPCC offices in Ningbo and Wenzhou to meet with national and provincial CPPCC members, as well as local officials. He stressed the significance of deeply understanding and implementing the spirit of Xi Jinping’s landmark speech commemorating the CPPCC’s anniversary as a critical political task. He underlined the need for a harmonious blend of party leadership, united front work, and consultative democracy, calling for strengthened political responsibility and improved work capacity to enhance the quality and effectiveness of policy discussions.
