PM goes to Brussels as he eyes closer UK-EU co-operation

During Sir Keir Starmer’s recent inaugural trip to Brussels as Prime Minister, he aimed to repair and strengthen the UK’s relationship with the EU in the wake of the challenging Brexit negotiations. Despite the typical rainy weather, this visit marked a pivotal moment for both parties.

At the press podiums, union flags stood proudly alongside EU flags, signaling a commitment to renewed partnership. Ahead of Starmer’s arrival, the European Parliament’s red carpet was thoroughly cleaned, underscoring the trip’s significance.

Ursula von der Leyen, the influential president of the European Commission, extended a warm welcome to the Prime Minister, highlighting the positive atmosphere surrounding their discussions. Notably, Starmer arrived well-prepared, equipped with key messages aimed at promoting cooperation and building trust for the future.
